Plain terms for a site that republishes a public record. Using ChildCareTX means you accept these.

What this site is

ChildCareTX publishes the Texas childcare licensing register and the inspection record that Texas Health and Human Services Commission makes public, alongside information that providers and families give us directly. It is a directory and a reference. It is not a recommendation service.

We do not grade, score, rank or rate programs. There are no reviews on this site and no star ratings of our own. The only star rating shown anywhere is Texas Rising Star, which the state awards and we reproduce.

The records are the state's, and they are a snapshot

Citations, inspection dates, risk levels, capacities and the inspector's written findings all come from HHSC. We reproduce them; we do not write them and we cannot change them. Each page says when we last refreshed the data.

A citation is a finding by a state inspector on a particular day. It is not a statement about a program today, and the correction status beside it is part of the record. Treat anything here as a starting point for your own questions, not as a substitute for visiting a program, meeting the people who work there, and checking the current record with HHSC yourself.

We make no warranty that the data is complete, current or free of error. HHSC changes its published data without notice and we refresh on a schedule.

Correcting a record

This is the part we actually commit to.

• If something we show about your program is wrong, tell us at corrections@childcaretx.com and we will look at it. If the error is ours we fix it. If the error is in the state's data, the correction has to go through HHSC and will reach us on the next refresh, and we will say so rather than leave you waiting.
• You may publish a response beside any citation on your record, free, whether or not you pay us anything. It appears directly under that item on your page.
• Claiming your listing is free and always will be.

Using the site

You agree not to:

• Scrape or bulk-copy the site. The underlying records are public and we tell you exactly where to get them, which is a better source than us anyway.
• Use the contact forms to send marketing, bulk mail or anything a program did not ask for.
• Claim a listing for a program you do not operate.
• Submit anything false, including a tuition figure or an enrollment you do not have.
• Try to work out who sent an inquiry, or use this site to find a person.

What you send us

If you send a question to a program, we pass it to that program and nowhere else. If you contribute a fact about a program you are enrolled at, and that program confirms it, we may publish it in aggregate, such as a price range for a city. We never publish your name or your contact details, and we never sell either. See Privacy.

You keep ownership of anything you write. You give us permission to publish a provider response beside the citation it answers, and to use confirmed facts in aggregate. You can ask us to remove either.

Advertising and paid placement

Some placements on this site are paid for. Every one of them is labeled Paid placement where it appears. Paid placement never affects a program's inspection record, never changes the order of the main list of programs, and never removes anything from a page. Advertising is sold by category and city and is separate from the provider product.

Provider subscriptions

Paid provider plans are described at For providers. A subscription is a separate agreement presented at checkout, which names the contracting company and governs billing, cancellation and refunds. Where that agreement and this page differ about a subscription, that agreement governs.

Subscribing buys features. It does not buy a better record, a higher ranking in the main list, or the removal of anything the state published.

Liability

The site is provided as it is. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss arising from your use of it or from any decision you make about childcare. Choosing a childcare program is your decision and your responsibility, and nothing here is advice.

Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

We link to HHSC, to providers' own websites and to other sites. We do not control them and are not responsible for what they say.

Changes, and the law that applies

We may change these terms and will update the date above when we do. These terms are governed by the law of the State of Texas.
