Privacy
Short version: we do not track you, we do not sell anything about you, and most people who use this site give us nothing at all.
Last updated 2026-10-25.
Reading the site
You can read every page here without an account, and we do not know who you are while you do. There is no analytics on this site: no Google Analytics, no tracking pixel, no advertising network, no fingerprinting, no session recording. We do not set a cookie on anyone who is only reading.
Our host keeps ordinary server logs, which include IP addresses, for a short period to serve the pages and stop abuse. We do not build profiles from them.
The one cookie
If you are a childcare provider and you sign in to manage your listing, we set a
single cookie named cctx_session. It holds a random session token and
nothing else: no name, no email, no identifier we could read. It is
HttpOnly so scripts cannot read it, Secure so it only
travels over HTTPS, SameSite=Lax, and it expires after 30 days.
Signing out clears it immediately.
That is the only cookie this site sets. There are no others to accept or refuse.
What you can choose to send us
Three forms on this site collect anything, and all three are optional.
Asking a program about a place
We take your email address, and optionally a phone number, your child's age band, your ZIP code, when you need care, whether you plan to use a child care scholarship, and your question. We email all of it to that one program and send you a copy. We tell you honestly whether it reached them.
It goes nowhere else. We do not sell inquiry data, we do not share it with other programs, we do not pass it to advertisers, and we do not use it to email you anything you did not ask for. We keep it so you have a record of what you sent and so a program can answer late.
Confirming you are enrolled somewhere
If you tell us your child attends a program, your email goes to that program so they can confirm or decline it. Nothing is published, and your address is never shown to anyone but that program. A program that ignores the request confirms nothing, and nothing happens.
Claiming a listing, if you run a program
We send a one-time link to the email address Texas HHSC already holds for that program, which is public record. We show that address masked, so you can recognize it without us handing an attacker a target. The link is stored hashed, never in plain text, works once, and expires in 30 minutes.
Who else is involved
These companies handle data on our behalf, and only to do their job:
- Supabase hosts the database.
- Cloudflare serves the pages.
- Resend delivers the email we send.
- Stripe takes payment from subscribing providers. Card details go to Stripe directly and never touch our systems.
Two more are worth naming because your browser contacts them directly:
- Google Fonts serves the two typefaces this site uses. Loading a font means your browser makes a request to Google, which can see your IP address. We set no Google cookie and send them nothing about you.
- OpenStreetMap serves the map tiles. Your browser requests them only on a page where a map is actually drawn, which means they can see your IP address and which area you were looking at. On a provider's own page the map does not load at all until you press the button, specifically so that reading an inspection record does not tell anyone which program you were reading about.
What we never do
- Sell, rent or trade anything about you.
- Give an advertiser your details, your email, or anything you typed.
- Email you marketing because you asked a program a question.
- Run an ad network, a tracking pixel or a third-party analytics script.
- Publish anything a parent sends us. Your question goes to one program.
Children
This site is for adults choosing childcare. We do not knowingly collect anything from a child, and the only thing we ask about a child is an age band, with no name and no date of birth.
Your choices
Email privacy@childcaretx.com and ask us what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. We will do it. You do not need to give a reason and we will not ask for one.
Deleting an inquiry removes our copy. It cannot unsend the email the program already received, which is theirs.
Changes
If this changes we will update the date at the top. We will not quietly start doing something this page says we do not do.
